Main Card:
Frank Mir defeated Mirko Cro Cop by KO with a huge knee with 58 seconds left in the fight.
Up to that point it was a very strange uneventful fight, probably the most boring main event in the Zuffa era of the UFC. Not much action it looked more like two sparring partners. They were even chatting during the fight.
Ryan Bader defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira by unanimous decision 30-27 on all scorecards.
I felt Bader dominated round 1 but rounds 2 and 3 were super close. I had actually scored it 29-28 for Nogueira but I had no problem with this decision. I do have a problem with the 30-27 though I think Lil Nog at least deserved one round on the scorecards.
Chris Lytle defeated Matt Serra by unanimous decision 30-27 on all scorecards.
This was basically a straight up boxing match dominated by Lytle. I'm very surprised that Serra didn't make more of an effort to get this to the ground especially after getting pounded badly in round 2.
Sean Sherk defeated Evan Dunham by split decision 29-28, 29-28, 28-29
This decision was absolute bullshit. Sherk dominated round 1 including landing a big elbow during some ground and pound that busted Dunham up. Dunham rallied and I believe he clearly won the last two rounds. The crowd booed this decision and Sherk at the end of the fight. Sherk didn't deserve that he was very classy about the whole thing even calling Dunham a future champion post fight. Cecil Peeples and Glen Trowbridge were the two idiot judges that scored it 29-28 Sherk. No surprise as they are basically the two worst fucking judges in MMA history.
Melvin Guillard defeated Jeremy Stephens by split decision 29-28, 30-27 with the other judge giving it to Stephens 29-28.
This was an interesting and wildly debated decision. The respected MMA media people that were at the event scored it for Guillard while the MMA media folks at home had it all scored for Stephens. I had also scored it 29-28 for Stephens. I think those judges need monitors...or better monitors if they are already using them.
Prelims live on Spike TV:
CB Dollaway choked out Joe Doerksen with a modified guillotine choke at 2:47 of round 1.
A very impressive performance by Dollaway who showed great patience on the ground. I didn't think he could beat Doerksen that easily.
Matt Mitrione defeated Joey Beltran by unanimous decision 29-28 on all scorecards
Beltran dominated the first round but after that it was all Meathead. This was a very entertaining little slugfest. A bit sloppy but fun to watch.
Sean McCorkle defeated Mark Hunt by straight arm bar submission at 1:03 of round 1
Hunt hit him early and ended up in his guard when McCorkle locked on the unusual straight arm bar for the tap. Very disappointing debut for Hunt.
Thiago Tavares submitted Pat Audinwood at 3:47 of round 1 with a jump guard guillotine.
Tavares completely smothered Audinwood on the ground and basically crawled up him like a spider monkey to lock on the guillotine which Audinwood tapped to while still standing.
