Strikeforce has decided to roll the dice and take a chance on controversial former UFC Heavyweight champion Josh Barnett. Although he's been one of the top heavyweights in MMA for years Barnett is best known for his troubles with steroids. In fact he's the only MMA competitor who has tested positive three times for steroid use. He was once stripped of the UFC Heavyweight title because of it and most famously he tested positive before the ill fated 3rd Affliction show when he was scheduled to fight Fedor Emelianenko. The show was cancelled as a result and the Affliction MMA promotion shut down afterwards.
Barnett has had only one fight so far in 2010 debuting for DREAM in Japan defeating Mighty Mo on March by first round submission.
There are lots of intriguing fights in Strikeforce for Barnett but I wonder at this point if he's not just a waste of time and money.
